I'm going to divert alittle today. It's my birthday today and I shall be talking about one of the gifts that I got, which I feel is the most meaningful one. Though the ideal gift for me would be Josh Groban's latest hits but haha I won't ask for anymore then the friendship as a gift. Thanks everyone.
The gift is a book titled, 'It's not how Good you are, it's how Good you want to be.' by Paul Arden. It was given to me by my good friend, Venetia. Basically it's made up of a series of chapters that guided my thoughts and gave me insights on how to think creatively and positively. I enjoyed the book so much I finished it in a day. But I'll be reading a few more times as I have not yet understood everything in it.
One chapter caught my attention, it's called 'IT'S ALL MY FAULT', oh the chapters are all in caps by the way. It said,
If you are involved in something thst goes wrong, never blame others. Blame no one but yourself. If you have touched something, accept total responsibility for that piece of work. If you accept responsibility, you are in a position to do something about it.
I felt that the author was really critical at this point but his very last sentence caught my attention. Let's take for example, the Financial Meltdown, it has had several effects around the globe. It poses a major challenge for us, the graduates, when we look for a job. Do we blame the market for this misfortune and continue spending our time that way? Or take responsibility of ourselves and be in the position to do something about it?
We can't tell the market not to fall into a recession, we can't tell the Tsunami not to hit Java, we can't govern how the job market is to be affected during this recession. But what we CAN do, is to govern ourselves, to decide what to do with the available time that we have to pursue the Goals that we made. In this realm of Choicelessness, we can still choose how we want to live. That is why having a Goal is so important. Thank you for reading. =)
